what we Fund

At REF, we support practical, community-rooted solutions that improve the lives of children with disabilities.

Our grants are designed to help proven initiatives grow, whether that means reaching more children, improving quality, or strengthening long-term sustainability. We fund interventions that are already working, and help take them further.

Our Focus Areas

01

Assistive Technology

Tools and devices that assist children in moving, communicating, or accessing learning, such as mobility aids, hearing aids, or communication tools.

02

Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR)

Locally-led rehabilitation services that support mobility, function, and independence, delivered in homes, communities, or schools.

03

Family Empowerment

Initiatives that support caregivers of children with disabilities, through knowledge, networks, and tools to advocate for their children’s rights and needs.

04

Access to Education

Practical interventions that enable children with disabilities to enrol, stay, and thrive in school, whether through teacher training, classroom adaptations, or inclusive support systems.

What We Don’t Fund

To remain focused and impactful, we currently do not fund:

  • Organisations or individuals without a disability-specific mandate.
  • One-time events or conferences
  • Academic research
  • Political or religious programming
  • Work without a clear connection to measurable children outcomes

Our funding is project-based and often catalytic, designed to unlock growth, deepen impact, or amplify visibility. If your work aligns with our focus and values, we encourage you to introduce your organisation. While we operate an invitation-only model, we’re always listening.

We do not currently fund individuals, organisations without a disability-specific focus, or groups without a track record of service in the field.

We use an invitation-only model because we take time to build relationships, understand context, and walk alongside our grantees. If your work aligns with our mission and values, and you’d like to introduce your organisation to us, we welcome that connection.
